La grammaire des sentiments: Parler, vivre et sentir en Français

This course aims to enhance students’ ability to effectively express and understand feelings in French by reintegrating the study of grammar in its practical, musical and poetic uses. Grammatical structures will be studied through a variety of authentic sources, with a focus on songs and poetry as fruitful vehicles for the expression of a large palette of human emotions.

Viewing language as a deeply cultural, intellectual and human experience, this course will invite students to feel the French language rather than merely understand it.

Students will engage with the materials through both creative (role-plays, group work, creative writing…) and analytical projects (literary analysis, close-reading, reflective essays…) enabling them to gain a more nuanced understanding and feeling of the French language and culture.
